esus warned His disciples of the leaven (yeast) of the Pharisees and Sadducees meaning that their teaching was a harmful influence. The world is like this today. On the other hand, He taught that the kingdom of heaven was like leaven in a lump of dough, that it would permeate everything around it. Christians need to be pro-active in influencing the world around them for good.
